Blue Owl Capital is aiming to help simplify the alternative investing process for financial advisors and their clients with a newly unveiled digital platform.

Called The Nest by Blue Owl, the platform is designed to offer a range of digital resources and tools focused on education, implementation, and engagement in private markets.

Through The Nest, the firm said advisors and clients can access on-demand webinars, portfolio construction resources, and guides to incorporating alternative investments into their practices. The platform also provides live events and webcasts featuring Blue Owl’s experts.

Aside from centralizing educational efforts Blue Owl has been building over the years, the new platform strikes at the heart of an industry-wide clamor for training. In one recent report by Cerulli, 77 percent of advisors said they need baseline education at the asset class level, followed by 69 percent who sought portfolio contruction guidance, and another 54 percent who agreed edcucation on how to talk about alts with clients is essential.

Sean Connor, president and CEO of global private wealth at Blue Owl, highlighted the need for more advisor-focused resources in the private markets space.

“A lack of advisor-focused educational and engagement opportunities around private markets is a major roadblock to the broader adoption of alternatives within the private wealth channel,” Connor said in a statement highlighting the opportunity to meet the needs of the retail market.

The platform, available globally to financial professionals and clients, is organized around three core areas:

  • The Learn section, aimed at educating advisors and clients who are new to private markets with articles, videos, and continuing education webcasts;
  • The Implement section, where advisors can access guides on how to select alternative asset managers and incorporate alternative investments into client portfolios; and
  • The Engage section provides market insights and opportunities to interact with Blue Owl’s experts through events, webcasts, and recaps of network events.

"We look forward to continuing to build the platform and believe it will serve as a valuable foundation for advisors and their clients navigating private markets across asset classes," Connor said.
