Ali was born and raised in New York, and is a recent graduate of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism where she received a master's degree with a concentration in business journalism. She first started writing for professional publications at 15 years old for a local newspaper. Throughout college and grad school, she worked as a freelance reporter and her byline has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times' Lens blog, NBCNews.com and Newsday.com.
