Avantax, the tax-focused financial planning and wealth management firm in Texas, has proven its appeal once again with the addition of a former Ameriprise advisor.

The Texas-based Cetera subsidiary announced Tuesday that Erin Hinzmann has joined the company through Alliance Wealth Strategies.

Hinzman transitioned from her previous affiliation with Ameriprise Financial, where she managed approximately $120 million in client assets as of May 2024.

Her move to Avantax was reportedly driven by the firm's tax-specialized planning and investment product offerings, as well as its advanced case design team and “high-touch service” to help grow her independent practice.

Operating in the Austin area, Hinzmann has cultivated a loyal client base over the past 22 years. That includes many clients who have grown from their early accumulation days into high-net-worth individuals.

She started her two decades in the industry as a financial advisor with Edward Jones before moving to Ameriprise in a similar role.

In joining Avantax, she also reunited with Bryan Clegg, independent financial advisor and partner with Alliance Wealth Strategies.

“It’s been a dream to team with Bryan for the last 16 years, but it was never the right time until now,” Hinzman said.

“We are committed to bringing on financial advisors with experience in various specialties that give our clients access to more knowledge, empowering those clients to make better decisions in pursuit of their long-term financial and life goals," Clegg said.

Laurie Stack, VP of business development at Avantax, sees Hinzmann's arrival as a testament to how “there’s never been a more exciting time for women in the financial services industry.

“I believe that the impending wealth transfer to women, amounting to trillions of dollars, will have an astounding impact on investing in America," Stack said.
