S&P indexes to change after acquisitions

Standard & Poor's said Wednesday it is changing the makeup of its indices after a number of acquisitions.

Standard & Poor's said Wednesday it is changing the makeup of its indices after a number of acquisitions. Denbury Resources Inc. is acquiring Encore Acquisition Co., a constituent of the S&P MidCap 400 index. Encore will be replaced by Transatlantic Holdings Inc. in the index after the close of trading March 9. The Stanley Works is acquiring Black & Decker Corp., a constituent of the S&P 500. After the close of trading March 12, ONEOK Inc. will take Black & Decker's place on the S&P 500, Greenhill & Co. Inc. will replace ONEOK on the S&P MidCap 400 and Powell Industries Inc. will replace Greenhill in the S&P SmallCap 600.
