Barclays debuts iPath ETNs

Barclays has launched eight exchange-traded notes to track commodities on NYSE Arca today.

Barclays PLC has launched eight exchange-traded notes to track commodities on NYSE Arca today. The iPath ETNs are unsecured debt securities issued by Barclays Bank PLC and are linked to the total returns of a market index and backed by Barclays. The ETNs like, exchange traded funds trade throughout the day. The new ETNs include the iPath Dow Jones-AIG Agriculture Total Return Sub-Index (JJA), iPath Dow Jones-AIG Copper Total Return Sub-Index (JJC), iPath Dow Jones-AIG Grains Total Return Sub-Index (JJG), iPath Dow Jones-AIG Industrial Metals Total Return Sub-Index (JJN), iPath Dow Jones-AIG Livestock Total Return Sub-Index (COW) and the iPath Dow Jones-AIG Natural Gas Total Return Sub-Index (GAZ). Each note carries an annual expense ratio of 0.75%. London-based Barclays has raised $2.25 billion in assets under management since it listed its first iPath Dow Jones-AIG Commodity Total Return Index ETN in June 2006.
