ETF assets dip slightly in June

ETF assets fell to $478 billion in June from $480 billion in May, according to State Street Global Advisors' monthly ETF Snapshot. The month saw the launch of 19 new ETFs, bringing the ETF universe up to 526 issues. Despite the overall drop in assets, assets in international and fixed income ETFs grew by 3%, to $3.7 billion and 4.3%, to $1 billion in June. However, Style, Size and Broad ETFs fell by 3.6% ($5.6 billion), 3.6% ($2.4 billion) and 1.9% ($290 million), respectively during the month. Barclays Global Investors NA of San Francisco had the largest assets under management figure with $282 billion spread over 137 ETFs. Boston-based State Street followed with $102 billion over 59 ETFs. The Vanguard Group Inc. of Malvern, Pa. rounded out the top three with $32.3 billion in assets over 32 ETFs.
