Zywave will include a mobile addition to its Advisor Briefcase application — the company's marketing and client communication tool. Though Zywave is known primarily for its financial planning applications NaviPlan and Profiles, the introduction of Advisor Briefcase Mobile represents another step toward providing more dynamic apps for planners beyond just improving financial planning capabilities. The mobile web app is compatible with smartphones and tablets, and Cory Olson, senior director of product solutions for Zywave, said he sees each device serving a different purpose in deploying Advisor Briefcase Mobile. “For the tablet, you have immediate access to Finra-approved content in a client meeting,” he said. “This ranges from articles to infographics — all optimized for tablet usage. If you're trying to explain a complex idea, you can pull it up, and hand it over to your clients to help them understand it. “The smartphone app will enable the on-the-go adviser to quickly get information to the client,” Mr. Olson said. “It makes sense, given the nature of the business — you're always meeting with people and you need to be immediately responsive.” The application will accompany all purchases of the workstation Advisor Briefcase platform, which, after being released last year, is used by around 100 advisers at close to 70 firms.
