Several measures that would put art and collectibles’ tax treatment on par with other investments are sitting in committee. S 374, which is in the Finance Committee, would also provide a tax deduction for charitable contributions of literary, musical, artistic or scholarly compositions created by the donor. Similar bills, S 548 (25 co-sponsors) and HR 1524 (57 co-sponsors) are also awaiting committee action. For more details, visit thomas.loc.gov.
