Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC today appointed a new head of international wealth management products and services. Chris Van Aeken, a 12-year veteran of the firm, will relocate from Hong Kong to London for his new job. Mr. Van Aeken has held various positions in wealth management, institutional securities, risk management, infrastructure and strategy at Morgan Stanley, and was most recently chief operating officer in Asia for private wealth management. In his new role, he will be responsible for wealth management products and services outside the U.S., including private banking, capital markets, managed investments and wealth planning, according to a statement from the firm. “International wealth management represents an important growth opportunity where we are committing significant resources,” Michael Armstrong, head of capital markets and international wealth management, said in the statement.
