American International Group Inc. has named Jay S. Wintrob president and chief executive of its Domestic Life and Retirement Services business.
American International Group Inc. has named Jay S. Wintrob president and chief executive of its Domestic Life and Retirement Services business.
The position is a new one, as New York-based AIG fits its U.S. life insurance businesses under one banner.
The Domestic Life and Retirement Services business includes AIG American General Life Cos., The Variable Annuity Life Insurance Co., Western National Life Insurance Co., all of Houston, as well as AIG SunAmerica Life Assurance Co. in Los Angeles and American General Life and Accident Insurance Co. in Nashville, Tenn.
Together, the businesses will offer products through a multichannel distribution network that covers banks, broker-dealers, insurance agents, advisers and a direct-to customer platform.
Previously, Mr. Wintrob served as the president and chief executive of AIG Retirement Services Inc. of Los Angeles.
He will continue to oversee Larry Roth, CEO of the AIG Advisor Group, the broker-dealer network that includes Royal Alliance of New York; SagePoint Advisors in Phoenix; and FSC Securities in Canyon Lake, Texas.
Mary Jane Fortin, now senior executive vice president, chief administration officer and finance chief of the domestic life companies, has been named president and chief executive of American General Life.
She replaces Matthew E. Winter, who has been promoted to AIG vice chairman of administration.
Ms. Fortin will report to Mr. Wintrob, as will the other leaders of the smaller life insurance companies.
