The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education has chosen prime-time dreamboat Chris Noth as its national spokesman for Life Insurance Awareness Month in September. He will participate in the Arlington, Va.-based non-profit group's campaign to raise public awareness of the importance of having life insurance. Mr. Noth, best known for his roles on the TV shows “Sex and the City” and “Law and Order,” has ties to life insurance going back to when he was a child. Both his father and grandfather were life insurance agents. When the actor was 9, Mr. Noth's father died in a car accident, leaving his mother to raise three sons on her own. However, his father had a life insurance policy, and the proceeds helped the family get by and put all three children through college. “I know from personal experience that life insurance can be the bedrock of a family's financial security,” Mr. Noth said in a statement. “That's why I'm proud to be working with the Life foundation to share my story and help educate Americans about the need to plan for life's uncertainties.” Starting this month, Mr. Noth will tell his story in TV and radio public service announcements. The announcements will also be available on the foundation's website during September. “These are difficult times, and many families are struggling,” Mr. Noth said. “Especially at a time like this, life insurance can be that safety net that catches a family when tragedy strikes.”
