Mass Mutual promotes COOs

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Springfield today promoted its two co-chief operating officers.
Roger W. Crandall, co-COO, executive vice president and chief investment officer, will take on the role of president, presently held by chairman and chief executive Stuart H. Reese.
Mr. Crandall will also become sole COO and join the board of directors.
William F. Glavin Jr., co-COO and executive vice president of MassMutual’s U.S. insurance group, has been named CEO of New York-based subsidiary OppenheimerFunds Inc.
He replaces John V. Murphy who is retiring at the end of 2009 but will remain as chairman until then.
Thomas M. Finke, president of Babson Capital Management LLC, a Boston-based MassMutual subsidiary, will assume Mr. Crandall’s titles as chairman and CEO of Babson and executive vice president and CIO of MassMutual.
Michael R. Fanning, senior vice president and COO of MassMutual’s insurance group, will be promoted to executive vice president and head of the group.
