New York Life appoints CEO

A 25-year veteran of the retirement and investment management industry, John Y. Kim comes to NYLIM from Prudential Retirement.

New York Life Investment Management LLC announced that John Y. Kim will become its president and chief executive on April 14. Mr. Kim succeeds Brian A. Murdock, who left the Parsippany, N.J.-based company. He will also serve as executive vice president of NYLIM's parent, New York Life Insurance Co. A 25-year veteran of the retirement and investment management industry, Mr. Kim comes to NYLIM from Prudential Retirement, a unit of Newark, N.J.-based Prudential Financial Inc., where he served as president.In that capacity, he led the group's defined benefit, defined contribution and guaranteed products businesses. Prior to that, Mr. Kim was president of retirement and investment services at Philadelphia-based CIGNA Corp.
