* American Skandia Life Assurance Corp. in Shelton, Conn., has promoted two executives: Michael Murray, 32, has been appointed senior vice president/national markets director for mutual funds, and Patti Abram, 49, has been named senior vice president/national markets director for life insurance and wrap products. American Skandia will launch a broad, wrap-fee product portfolio to be marketed nationally by the company's wholesaling force. Mr. Murray was a national sales director of the financial institutions channel and was instrumental in the launch of the American Skandia Advisor Funds in 1997. Ms. Abram was national sales director of variable life insurance. * Orbitex Management Inc. in New York has appointed Neil Feinberg president and chief investment officer. Mr. Feinberg, who has more than 10 years' experience in managing mutual funds and alternative investments, was with Nebo Management in New York, where in October 1999 he established a market-neutral hedge fund that generated returns of 20%, with positive returns in each month since inception. * Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. in New York has named Heidi G. Miller, 47, vice chairman of Marsh Inc., its risk and insurance services operating company. Her responsibilities will encompass Marsh Inc.'s strategy, administration, communications, e-commerce, finance, human resources and technology. Ms. Miller was chief financial officer with Citigroup Inc. in New York. * Carnick & Rainsberger in Colorado Springs has named Barring Coughlin, 55, chief investment officer. Mr. Coughlin, formerly an international investment executive with Bank of America in St. Louis, has more than 25 years of professional investment experience. * Clements Financial Group in Montgomery, Ala., has appointed Christopher Ceponis, 38, co-managing partner. Mr. Ceponis will oversee all business within the firm, associated with Boston-based New England Financial, from recruiting to training to sales. Mr. Ceponis will serve as co-chief marketing officer and manage mentorship units and marketing teams. The Clements Financial Group provides insurance and investment products ranging from life and disability insurance to pension plans. Mr. Ceponis began his career at New England Financial in 1987 as a financial representative in New York. * CheckFree Corp. in Atlanta has appointed Tacio Carvalho, 53, executive vice president and general manager of CheckFree investment services. Mr. Carvalho will be responsible for the company's strategic direction and daily operations and will report to Pete Sinisgalli, president and chief operating officer. Mr. Carvalho was managing director of Thomson Financial Media Latin America.
