Halfway through their first year in the advice business, the six young professionals InvestmentNews is tracking for its Year 1 project — to better understand adviser experiences as they enter the industry — have gained confidence and skills. One adviser assistant recently created her first solo financial plan and shared in the personal satisfaction of watching a couple learn they can retire immediately. Another find herself immersed in tax planning, which will help her with the certified financial planner exam. Most are feeling more self-assured after making it though six months at their first full-time jobs after college. One is even getting some entrepreneurial experience, even as he's decided the CFP designation isn't in his future.
