The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Inc. has reduced the suspension of former Morgan Stanley broker Kenneth Mathieson from one year to six months. In December 2016, a Finra extended hearing panel suspended Mr. Mathieson in all capacities and fined him $50,000 for participating in private securities transactions and engaging in outside business activities without notifying Morgan Stanley in advance. Morgan Stanley had terminated Mr. Mathieson in March 2014. He joined Raymond James that year. After his suspension, in January 2017, Mr. Mathieson appealed the decision, putting the sanctions on hold pending the review. In 2017, he joined Laidlaw & Co. Finra said that while it reduced the term of his suspension, Mr. Mathieson still will be fined $50,000.
