GOP names Garrett to key committee post

Rep. Scott Garrett, R-N.J., was appointed ranking minority member of the subcommittee on capital markets, insurance and government-sponsored enterprises. The selection of Mr. Garrett was announced today by Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., ranking minority member of the House Financial Services Committee, of which the capital markets subcommittee is a part. Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Ohio, was the ranking minority member of the subcommittee in the last Congress. Rep. Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa., remains chairman of the subcommittee.
