GenSpring nabs wealth management vet to lead California expansion

GenSpring Family Offices, the largest registered investment adviser by discretionary assets, has hired Mark A. Mushkat as a senior adviser to spearhead its push into Northern California. Mr. Mushkat, a 20 year veteran of the wealth management industry, comes from Harris myCFO, a unit of Harris Private Bank. He had been a managing director at Harris from 2002 until 2009, and prior to that, he also worked at Citi Private Bank. In his new job, Mr. Mushkat reports to Pat Soldano, president of GenSpring in Southern California. GenSpring, which is majority owned by SunTrust Banks Inc., manages close to $11 billion in discretionary assets, and works with about 700 families. It is considered a multifamily office in that it handles financial, legal, and tax issues for families, often among several generations.
