Perry Mattern, who managed $500 million in assets at Wells Fargo Advisors in Denver, has left the firm to form Mattern Capital Management, a registered investment adviser. The new firm will custody assets with First Clearing, the operations arm of Wells Fargo, and will use Trade PMR for technology and custodial support. The arrangement is part of an effort by Wells Fargo begun last year to offer the widest possible array of choices for advisers, including independence as an RIA. Mr. Mattern began his securities career in 2000 at A.G. Edwards, which was acquired by Wachovia, which itself was acquired by Wells Fargo.
